Trump, Moreno endorse Republican Air Force veteran, former CIA agent to replace liberal Landsman

President Donald Trump endorsed an Air Force veteran and a former Central Intelligence Agency agent from Cincinnati in the Republican primary, hoping that he would defeat U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Ohio, in the general election.

“Eric Conroy has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from Ohio’s 1st Congressional District — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote in the post on Truth Social, adding that he would prioritize America and Ohio.

In the post, Trump also called Landsman a “true Radical Left Extremist who does not represent the Values of Southwest Ohio and the Great City of Cincinnati.”

“Greg Landsman wants Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, and Defund the Police,” he wrote. “Sadly, Greg also voted against the Biggest Tax Cut in History, and fought ferociously against my America First Trade Policies, most specifically TARIFFS, which charge other Countries for access to our Markets while protecting our important Industries, and strengthening our Supply Chains.”

Trump also pointed out that Conroy used to serve in the Air Force and the CIA, which, according to Trump, means that he “knows the Wisdom and Courage it takes to Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strongly Support our Great Heroes in Law Enforcement, and Champion our Military and Veterans.”

Trump also wrote that Conroy will “Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”

Trump’s comments about Landsman came after the politician criticized Trump, calling him “unhinged” for threatening to destroy the Iranian civilization after starting a war against the country, according to a statement from Landsman.

“Trump is unhinged, and this insane rhetoric is undermining and creating panic,” he said in the statement. “End the war.”

Conroy, who grew up in suburban Cincinnati and lives in the city, thanked Trump for the endorsement in a post on X.

“It’s an honor to earn your support in the race for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District. I look forward to joining you in Washington to cut reckless spending, slash red tape, secure our borders, and defend conservative values for Southwest Ohio families,” he wrote.

Conroy told The Cincinnati Enquirer that he, just like Trump, will fight “every day for the forgotten men and women of this country” in Congress.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, also congratulated Conroy on Trump’s endorsement, supporting him as a candidate in a post on X.

Conroy reposted Moreno’s post on his X account.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and other politicians in Washington, D.C., also supported Conroy on social media.

Conroy will face candidates Holly Adams, Dr. Steven Erbeck, and Rosemary Oglesby-Henry in the May Republican primary.

According to The Enquirer, Landsman won reelection in 2024, defeating Republican Orlando Sonza with 56% of the vote.
