Conroy: ‘The only poll that counts is the one on Nov. 3 when the votes are tallied’

WILMINGTON — While many national headlines have focused on Democrats’ potential electoral success on Nov. 3, one Ohio congressional candidate sees a Republican bright spot flying under the radar.

Cincinnati native Eric Conroy is hoping to unseat Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman, a former Cincinnati city councilman, in Ohio’s First Congressional District. He says the district, which includes areas like Clinton County after the state’s recent redistricting, “makes it one of the few flippable seats around the country and one that could determine control of the House.”

“The only poll that counts is the one on Nov. 3 when the votes are tallied,” Conroy told Ohio.News. “And really, the polling we’re seeing is very encouraging. A lot of polls underestimate Republicans by three or four points in just about every race, and I think we’re seeing that again here.

“As Republicans, we like our freedom and independence, and we don’t like to participate in polls, right?” Conroy added. “And I think that’s a privacy aspect too. So we’re very encouraged by a lot of the polling that we’ve seen the last couple weeks, that these are starting to turn a corner, and it’s going to be a great Republican cycle this year.”

Republicans, hoping to retain their hold on Ohio, added Conroy, who was raised on Cincinnati’s west side, to the 2026 “MAGA Majority” list, a nationwide initiative aimed at flipping the map in their favor. Under the initiative, the NRCC will provide candidates with early support and strategic resources to increase their visibility in districts President Donald Trump won in 2024 and represented by perceived vulnerable Democrats.

“Greg Landsman is far too liberal for this region and for this district,” Conroy said. “It’s time to get someone there who actually has common-sense conservative values, but also someone who’s there for the right reasons.”
