Elliot Forhan, Ohio Democratic attorney general candidate, says he will ‘kill Donald Trump’
Ohio Democratic attorney general candidate Elliot Forhan announced on Tuesday that, if he replaces current Attorney General Dave Yost, he will kill President Donald Trump via capital punishment.
“I want to tell you what I mean when I say that I am going to kill Donald Trump,” he said in a video. “I mean, I am going to obtain a conviction rendered by a jury of his peers at a standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt based on evidence presented at a trial conducted in accordance with the requirements of due process, resulting in a sentence, duly executed, of capital punishment.”

In his response to Ohio.News’s request to comment on his recent statement, Forhan added that the reason why he wants Trump to be executed was because of his alleged criminal actions during his two terms in office.
Among those alleged criminal acts were breaking “his oath to the Constitution by fomenting a violent insurrection against the country,” referring to the incident on Jan. 6, 2021, pardoning “everyone who participated in that insurrection,” and firing all the lawyers from the Department of Justice who previously prosecuted the people who entered the Capitol that day.
Forhan said that Trump is “using the Department of Homeland Security and ICE as weapons against the American people,” adding that “he could well try again to do what he failed to do” on Jan. 6, 2021.
“I am running for Ohio attorney general to apply the law equally to everyone, including the rich and the powerful. Including the U.S. president,” he said.
Forhan then used South Korea as an example to show that his proposition is not as unpopular as it might seem.
“This month, in South Korea, a special prosecutor asked for the death penalty against the former South Korean president, who tried to do a coup in 2024 in that country,” he said. “If Donald Trump tries again to end American democracy, then as Ohio attorney general, I will hold him accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
State Auditor and Forhan’s Republican opponent in the race for the state’s attorney general’s job used the opportunity to criticize Forhan, calling on Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton to “renounce” Forhan’s “VILE comment that he’s going to ‘kill Donald Trump’ (months after celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination).”
“Turn down the rhetoric,” he wrote in his X post.
I'm calling on @amyactonoh to renounce Democrat candidate AG Elliot Forhan's VILE comment that he's going to "kill Donald Trump." (months after celebrating Charlie Kirk's assassination)

Yost, Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and his lieutenant governor mate Rob McColley, and the Ohio Republican Party also criticized Forhan, urging Acton and her lieutenant governor mate, David Pepper, to denounce Forhan.
Neither Acton nor Pepper responded to Forhan’s recent video on their social media pages.
Forhan was previously criticized by Yost and Secretary of State Frank LaRose for his “profanity-laced” social media post directed at conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, days after he was murdered in Utah, according to Fox News.
“F*** Charlie Kirk,” Forhan wrote in one of his posts.

“No public servant should say that about any human being, much less somebody who was just assassinated,” Yost said. “He just proved himself to be a petulant and undisciplined child, ill-suited to public office.”
In a statement to Fox News, Forhan said that he didn’t support the assassination of Kirk, but noted that it was wrong for people to glorify Kirk and his movement.
“I expressed anger over the whitewashing of Kirk’s legacy of bigotry and hate,” he told the news source. “That is my First Amendment right.”
In November 2023, Forhan “was stripped of most of his legislative privileges, including losing his committee assignments and legislative aide, and requiring a House sergeant-at-arms to accompany him while at the Ohio Statehouse,” after Yost requested to conduct an investigation into Forhan’s “erratic, aggressive, violent behavior” that year, according to Cleveland.com.
