Five things to know for Tuesday, Nov. 11
General Revenue Fund tax revenue exceeded the estimate
October General Revenue Fund tax revenue exceeded estimates by 4.4%, $110.6 million. Officials said the four main tax sources — auto sales, commercial activity, non-auto sales, and personal income taxes — contributed to the variance.
Tax revenue in October increased 11.3% or $263.2 million from last year. For the year-to-date, total tax revenue exceeds the estimate by 4.3%, or $402.6 million, with personal income tax accounting for 44% of the variance.
MLB agrees to restrict micro-prop bets
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that the league and gaming companies have agreed to limit micro-prop bets. MLB-authorized gaming operators will limit bets on pitch-level markets to $200 and ban them from parlays.
This follows Republican Gov. Mike DeWine’s July request that sports leagues act after two Cleveland Guardians pitchers were put on leave and subsequently indicted for alleged “betting irregularities” involving such bets. The announcement also empowers the Ohio Casino Control Commission to confirm that gaming companies are complying with the agreement.
State set to distribute partial SNAP benefits
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is taking the necessary steps to disperse partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, possibly starting tomorrow. They will continue daily until complete.
The latest federal guidance, issued this weekend following federal court action, instructs ODJFS to reduce the maximum amount a household can receive in November by 35% and to recalculate each payment based on that new maximum. While the amount households will receive hinges on factors such as income and allowable deductions, nearly all recipients will receive less than 65% of their regular benefit, and some recipients may receive no benefits this week.

With an uptick in mail-in voting, the measure aims to safeguard every vote and every voter by ensuring mail-in ballots are protected from fraud. The measure aims to increase the security of Ohio’s elections.
