In preparing for 2026 election, Husted reminds Ohio voters Trump endorsed him

U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, recently began preparing for the 2026 election by releasing a 15-second ad on social media platforms that reminded voters in the Buckeye State that President Donald Trump endorsed Husted.

“Ohio needs conservative champion Jon Husted in the U.S. Senate,” the narrator said in the ad.

In his endorsement on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Husted “is doing an incredible job as Senator for the Great State of Ohio,” adding that the politician also served as Ohio’s Lieutenant Governor for seven years.

“Jon is a wonderful man, has ALWAYS delivered for Ohio, and will continue doing so in the U.S. Senate,” Trump wrote. “He is working hard to Create Jobs, Lower Costs, Promote Products and Services MADE IN AMERICA by our incredible Ohio Workers, Support our Great Farmers, Champion Innovation, Secure our Border, Stop Criminals, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Strongly Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”

Trump also wrote that Ohioans can count on Husted because he would “fight to advance Common Sense Values, and put AMERICA FIRST.”

“Jon Husted has my Complete and Total Endorsement — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN,” Trump wrote.

On Thursday, Husted introduced two bills, the Water Authority and Timely Environmental Review (WATER Act) and the Water Resources Technical Assistance Act of 2025, according to a Husted press release. The former would “streamline permitting for water projects,” and the latter would “support Ohio’s rural communities as they navigate available water-related funding sources.”

“From Lake Erie to the Ohio River and everything in between, Ohio is blessed with incredible natural resources,” Husted wrote. “Currently, federal permits are wasting taxpayer dollars and slowing down the process. This bill will help states cut through bureaucratic red tape by empowering state transportation departments to manage these permits directly—saving time and money.”

Husted also joined other Ohio lawmakers, including Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, to announce updated plans for a new first responder training facility in East Palestine.

“We are working across the nation to prepare our workforce for in-demand jobs and there is no job more important to Ohio families than the first responders who keep our communities safe,” Husted said in a release. “Those who collaborate best win and this project has been a great team effort with community and state leaders, business, and educators coming together for the good of East Palestine and the entire region.”

One of Husted’s bills, the Streamlined Market Access and Reform for Therapeutics Over-the-Counter Act, which Trump recently signed, was written to help Ohioans who cannot afford medications.

“Ohioans deserve access to affordable, high-quality health care. Reducing barriers to safe medications empowers the American public to take charge of their health without the fear of burning a hole through their pocket,” Husted said. “With the SMART OTC Act now law, families will have access to more over-the-counter medicines.”
