VP JD Vance blasts Democrats’ ‘failed policies’ during Toledo speech
Vice President JD Vance blasted Democrats during a Thursday morning appearance in Toledo, saying November’s election is about fighting for the American Dream or returning to “failed” policies.
“Do we want to go back to the failed policies of the Biden-Harris administration? No, we don’t, so let’s keep doubling down on American prosperity, let’s keep doubling down on the American worker, and let’s tell Marcy Kaptur and the rest of the crazy congressional Democrats that we are not going back,” Vance told a fired-up crowd.
“…And the question in November is very fundamental. It’s going to be, do we reward the people like [Republican U.S. Sen.] Jon Husted who cut your taxes, who fights for lower housing costs, who fights for lower prescription drug costs?” Vance posed. “Or do we reward the crazy, far-left Democrats who think that America is one big get-rich … scheme for fraudsters? That’s it. That’s simply the question. So I’m asking you, are we going to fight for the people who are fighting for the American dream?”
Vance, an Ohio native, spoke in Toledo about how Republicans’ economic and health care plans are delivering for Ohio families.
For their part, Democrats said President Donald Trump is focused on the wrong priorities. What they didn’t address was why consumer prices increased by 21.5% and gas prices rose by 31% during former President Joe Biden’s four years in the White House, as the liberal-leaning Fact Check was forced to concede.
“Today, JD Vance will try to gaslight Ohioans about Trump’s toxic economic agenda, but Ohio families know he’s a cheap fraud and won’t buy his B.S. Ohio families are paying thousands more for the basics because of Donald Trump and JD Vance and losing their health care,” DNC Spokesperson Albert Fujii said in a statement.
Republicans also seized the opportunity to call out Democratic U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who has been in office since 1983, saying she voted against tax cuts for working families in her district.

“If there’s the chance to oppose Trump, Marcy Kaptur is going to take it, even if it means hurting Ohioans,” RNC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar said in a statement. “Meanwhile, the Trump Administration and Jon Husted are helping working families with more jobs, lower costs, and safer communities. Ohio Democrats are toast come November.”
Kaptur is expected to face a tough re-election this November. At least six Republicans are expected to vie for the nomination.
“So let’s remember what we’re fighting for this November; it’s to have political leadership … that fights for the American people that fights for the American dream,” Vance added. “Don’t forget it, my friends. Let’s work hard; let’s elect these great candidates to higher office, because that’s the only way we are going to send a message to the Democrats that this country belongs to Americans and that the American Dream belongs to the citizens who built this nation.”
