U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman claims he never voted for a federal government shutdown — but he twice opposed funding plans

Republicans are calling out Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman for telling CNN he has never voted for a federal government shutdown.

According to the National Republican Congressional Committee, Landsman twice voted against continuing resolutions, including a U.S. House continuing resolution that passed on March 11 to fund the federal government and another that passed on Sept. 19 to do the same.

The House is poised to vote again today on a Senate-passed continuing resolution to fund much of the government through January. The resolution would fund other government programs through the rest of the current fiscal year.

Landsman appears poised to vote for a third time against funding the federal government, based on a post he made on X, formerly Twitter.

The NRCC launched a digital ad campaign targeting Democrats, including Landsman, for voting to shut down the government in September. The NRCC also launched a digital ad targeting Landsman for his March vote.

“Out of touch Democrat Greg Landsman can’t hide from the truth,” NRCC Spokesman Zach Bannon told Ohio.News in a statement. “He’s voted twice to shut down the government this year and is promising to do it again because his loyalty lies with the radical far-left, not Ohioans.”

Republicans previously criticized the Cincinnati-area congressman, saying he is out of touch for voting against the continuing resolution but taking contributions from several air groups, including at least $16,500 from the Air Line Pilots Association PAC, $15,000 from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association PAC, and $3,000 from the FAA Managers Association Inc. PAC.
